The Beginning
In 2017 Dr. Christopher Woodson and Dr. Raymond Klug founded Beach Orthopaedic Specialty Institute (BOSI), the premier orthopedic provider to Orange County, Greater Long Beach, and the South Bay of Los Angeles, CA. In 2021, Beach Orthopaedics welcomed Dr. Johannes Bernbeck who has over 30 years experience in spine surgery. In 2025, BOSI expanded its team with the addition of Dr. Armin Arshi, an orthopedic surgeon specializing in hip replacement and knee replacement and reconstruction. The vision of the practice is to provide the highest quality evidence-based orthopedic care in the area within a personalized and efficient office setting.
Top-Notch Treatment
BOSI’s orthopedic surgeons are all fellowship trained. In addition, they are passionate about clinical outcomes, exploring the newest innovations in orthopedic surgery, clinical research, and explaining treatment options to patients in a systematic fashion. Non-operative modalities are the mainstay of treatment for most patients. When these treatments fail, surgery is carefully considered and personalized for each patient.
State-of-the-art Office
Our office facility is state-of-the-art with in-house x-ray, ultrasound, biologics, bracing, casting, and all facets of orthopedic care. Patient rooms have been thoughtfully designed with large wireless imaging screens to allow for careful review of radiographs or MRIs with patients and families. Beach Orthopaedic Specialty Institute is conveniently located adjacent to the Los Alamitos Medical Center.

Dr. Bernbeck is a life changer, please don’t take those words as an overstatement. I’m in my mid 30’s having played sports all my life, I hurt my back in May, tried to tough through the pain and wound up on my back for the full month of October. I saw my primary, 2 chiropractors, a sports chiro/wellness center, and even upon getting an epidural everyone said surgery was in my short term future. Dr. Bernbeck suggested a different path via physical therapy and evolving my workout plan to strengthen the supporting muscles. Here I stand a year post injury feeling better than I have since my 20’s, I have my life back (no pun intended) and couldn’t be more thankful. The thought of back surgery in your 30’s felt like I was going to be giving up so much of what makes me me and now I’m not living in a world of fear of a setback and struggling to get off of the ground. I cannot thank Dr. Bernbeck and the amazing staff for getting me back to me. Who’d have thought that a surgeon’s first move would be to provide a path without surgery rather than just hit go, but that’s exactly what he did.
Dear Dr. Woodson, I couldn’t have imagined that I’d have experienced minimal pain, if any (!), during my recovery. And for that, I’m grateful for your skill, expertise and your patience in explaining the pros & cons of your surgical recommendations to a “somewhat” skeptical patient. The care I received from Dr. Arshi was exceptional. I can’t speak highly enough of Dr. Arshi. He was not only knowledgeable but also took the time to address all of my questions and concerns, while always being available via calls or texts. He did a great job on my two total knee replacements. I experienced a very fast recovery, with no issues and I am now walking pain free. I highly recommend Dr. Arshi.
