In 2017 Dr. Christopher Woodson and Dr. Raymond Klug founded Beach Orthopaedic Specialty Institute (BOSI), the premier orthopedic provider to Orange County, Greater Long Beach, and the South Bay of Los Angeles, CA. In 2021, Beach Orthopaedics welcomed Dr. Johannes Bernbeck who has over 30 years experience in surgery of the spine. The vision of the practice is to provide the highest quality evidence-based orthopedic care in the area within a personalized and efficient office setting.
BOSI’s orthopedic surgeons are all fellowship trained. In addition, they are all passionate about clinical outcomes, exploring the newest innovations in orthopedic surgery, clinical research, and explaining treatment options to patients in a systematic fashion. Non-operative modalities are the mainstay of treatment for most patients. When these treatments fail, surgery is carefully considered and personalized for each patient.
Our office facility is state-of-the-art with in-house x-ray, ultrasound, biologics, bracing, casting, and all facets of orthopedic care. Patient rooms have been thoughtfully designed with large wireless imaging screens to allow for careful review of radiographs or MRIs with patients and families. Beach Orthopaedic Specialty Institute is conveniently located adjacent to the Los Alamitos Medical Center.

As for what gave me the most relief? I’m not really sure as there was no “magic bullet”. It could be the 6 months of healing time. It could be the Durolane. It could be the Gabapentin or the Methylpredisolone. Or it could be that the whole team is finally learning to pull together.
Whatever it is, I’m grateful (my whole family is grateful) for the relief and I didn’t want to just “disappear” without letting you know what was going on and to thank you for your time and your help and considerations.

Dr. Woodson, Thank you very much for your expertise and advice for my grandson. Last year at this time he tore his UCL in football. He has since played the entire baseball season as a freshman at Los Al and the past few months for the CBA U15. We were lucky to have friends encourage us to see you at that time.

I am writing this review for my 85-year-old mother. I am a recently retired chiropractor with 35 years of practice experience. I feel this lifetime of experience has given me a little extra insight when reviewing a physician, particularly when regarding the spine. My mother had lower back, buttock and leg pain which left her unable to walk without bending forward. She could only walk if she was bent forward, using a walker or hanging onto a shopping cart for support. She was unable to stand up straight without experiencing sharp, shooting pain in her buttock and leg. This is called a “Shopping Cart Sign”, which indicates severe spinal stenosis. As you can imagine, I had lots of questions for Dr. Bernbeck. Many of them more technical than the average person would be able to ask. Usually, I would get a second opinion. However, I was so satisfied with Dr. Bernbeck’s demeanor, and his honest, straightforward answers to my questions, that we decided to go forward with the procedure without a second opinion. We could not be more happy with the decision. Following the procedure, Dr. Bernbeck responded quickly to adjust pain medication to keep my mother comfortable. There was usually a return call within two hours. It is now four weeks after surgery. My mother walked a mile yesterday with no pain. There is still some off and on soreness, which Dr. Bernbeck told us we should expect for a few more months. Overall, this was an excellent experience, and I would highly recommend Dr. Bernbeck to any of my friends or colleagues. My review – 10 out of 10.

Thank you to your care team as they did an exceptionally attentive job- my issue is very common and I know specialists like your office are in high demand with more interesting issues…I was treated as if my issue WAS interesting. And as if wasn’t delightful enough that everyone was so effortlessly nice, Dr. Woodson was SO pleasant and approachable!

Dr. Woodson, Thank you for two very pleasant hip replacement operations. The freedom that comes from being able to walk, hike, and do aerobics is incredible. I also never thought I would be able to sit cross-legged in this life again, either! Your work is so much appreciated. With grateful thanks.
My husband tore his left bicep tendon, so I wanted to do my research on nearby orthopedic surgeons. I came across this facility on Yelp, and we decided to make an appt for a consultation due to the great reviews. I’m really glad we did. When we called, they made room to see my husband that same day. This was already a good first impression of this spot.
My husband met with Dr. Klug. He was very knowledgeable, and was told he’s the elbow and shoulder specialist.
Overall, everything from making an appointment, speaking with the surgeon, scheduling the surgery, and follow up went smoothly.
I would recommend this place if you’re in need of an orthopedic surgeon.
