The Beginning
In 2017 Dr. Christopher Woodson and Dr. Raymond Klug founded Beach Orthopaedic Specialty Institute (BOSI), the premier orthopedic provider to Orange County, Greater Long Beach, and the South Bay of Los Angeles, CA. In 2021, Beach Orthopaedics welcomed Dr. Johannes Bernbeck who has over 30 years experience in spine surgery. In 2025, BOSI expanded its team with the addition of Dr. Armin Arshi, an orthopedic surgeon specializing in hip replacement and knee replacement and reconstruction. The vision of the practice is to provide the highest quality evidence-based orthopedic care in the area within a personalized and efficient office setting.

BOSI’s orthopedic surgeons are all fellowship trained. In addition, they are passionate about clinical outcomes, exploring the newest innovations in orthopedic surgery, clinical research, and explaining treatment options to patients in a systematic fashion. Non-operative modalities are the mainstay of treatment for most patients. When these treatments fail, surgery is carefully considered and personalized for each patient.
State-of-the-art Office
Our office facility is state-of-the-art with in-house x-ray, ultrasound, biologics, bracing, casting, and all facets of orthopedic care. Patient rooms have been thoughtfully designed with large wireless imaging screens to allow for careful review of radiographs or MRIs with patients and families. Beach Orthopaedic Specialty Institute is conveniently located adjacent to the Los Alamitos Medical Center.

Dr. Bernbeck is simply awesome–his care, expertise, and thoroughness have changed my life. I have had so many issues with my back that have left me in horrible pain and unable to walk. Sitting, standing and walking were excruciating. After diligent and expert care from Dr. Bernbeck I am back on my bike, stairmaster and attending Pilates classes. I can walk 20,000 steps without pain. Dr. Bernbeck kept me off the surgeon’s table and am grateful. Dr. Bernbeck is extremely punctual with his appointments. I have never had to wait to be seen. My husband tore his left bicep tendon, so I wanted to do my research on nearby orthopedic surgeons. I came across this facility on Yelp, and we decided to make an appt for a consultation due to the great reviews. I’m really glad we did. When we called, they made room to see my husband that same day. This was already a good first impression of this spot.
My husband met with Dr. Klug. He was very knowledgeable, and was told he’s the elbow and shoulder specialist.
Overall, everything from making an appointment, speaking with the surgeon, scheduling the surgery, and follow up went smoothly.

Dr. Chris Woodson is a phenomenal orthopedic doctor and surgeon. I would recommend him to anyone needing an orthopedic specialist. Not only is he a great doctor and surgeon with a warm bed side manner, he is very responsive and proactive with his patients. He came in at the 11th hour to save my son from an unnecessary surgery. My 9 year old son fell on his elbow at school and we thought it was broken. The elbow specialist we saw the day of the accident insisted that he needed surgery right away to repair the damage. He insisted the repairs needed to be done immediately before the elbow continued to grow, making a 100% recovery impossible. As I prepared to take my son to the hospital for surgery, Dr. Woodson reviewed my son’s x-rays and within hours of leaving for the hospital, Dr. Woodson called to say that HE DID NOT NEED SURGERY! After reviewing the xrays, he determined that what looks like a break is actually the growth plate, and he 100% does not need surgery. That was five years ago, my son did not have the surgery. His elbow healed perfectly on its own and he’s is 100%. I am forever indebted to Dr. Woodson for his expertise, and will unconditionally recommend him to others.
